About Me

Growing up in Whitefish, Montana, solving problems alone on the farm as a teenager, developing leadership skills at the Air Force Academy, working with the public as a waiter in Glacier National Park, learning how to think and prioritize during an emergency as an EMT, observing my physical limits while skiing and skydiving, and now completing an engineering degree at Montana State University have molded the personable leader, creative thinker, and objective problem-solver I humbly believe I embody. This background gives me the impetus to become the best in my field of environmental engineering and consciousness, and I will do so, while learning many more skills along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to have a holistic worldview. In doing so, I know that traveling and boarding strictly at hostels limits me to being in a group of strictly tourists. While backpackers have their own unique perspectives in which I'm often more than willing to share, I also want that perspective and local knowledge that you can't quite get from paid city tours or tourist-only businesses. Couchsurfing is a way to learn and observe, and to play out that paradigm of doing unto others as I would have done to me. I can't wait to pay it forward for those who have done so for me during my travels!

Interests

I love to ski, skydive, hike, swim in mountain lakes, fly fish, trail bike, trail run, and long distance run. Ultimate frisbee and disc golf are my favorite competitive past times.

I read a lot and hope to never stop learning. The world has a lot to offer and I don't want to miss out on any of it. I try to do one thing every day that really scares me. Adrenaline is as important as a chill morning. I like to be up and enjoying the day early, and I will stay out and enjoy the night but am more of a five or six beer person than getting completely tanked. I like to remember and learn from my experiences!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love to jump out of planes a lot by myself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am all about life and living; I can entertain and inform on a lot of things. My experiences in the mountains of Montana and the adventures I have had around the American West have been a big part in shaping who I am and I'd love to share my ideas and stoke with new people, especially those unfamiliar with the area!

I am also a pretty decent cook and love to make all sorts of dishes, new and exciting ones as well. My favorite dish to cook is lasagna, but I also do borscht and stews and crockpots and casseroles and spaghettis.
