I am a university professor and professional adventurer. My travels have taken me to the highest peaks, the deepest oceans, and the most remote regions of the world. I love meeting people, hearing their stories, and connecting with others to share our collective wisdom.

Meeting people, exploring the world, and living on a reasonable budget. Those are my main objectives. Couchsurfing allows me to do those three things and I look forward to meeting many interesting people.

I like all kinds of music including rock n' roll, blues, jazz, classical, and a great deal that I have yet to hear. My movie choices are more selective leaning toward adventure and away from horror. Favorite books are too numerous to list but I prefer non-fiction to fiction and like compelling stories of people doing amazing things.

I do not think of my feats as amazing. I climb, swim, ski, and sail. Most of my adventures come from those activities. There are far more amazing feats by others. I simply do what I do because I enjoy it greatly.

I teach statistics. Usually, I reveal that in conversation and most walk away as if they were immediately disinterested. My aim is to make statistics available to everyone so we may all consume the material fed to us by the world - yes the world. We all use statistics and the more we know about these tools, the easier it is for us to be informed about the world around us (and it doesn't hurt during card games).

Additionally, I spent a good amount of time in the wild outdoors. Would be happy to talk to anyone interested in things I learned and learn from those who have done the same or more.
