About Me

I'm a simple guy who likes to go on outdoor adventures, travel and do all kind of outdoor sports. My passion in the summer is mountain biking and snowboarding in the winter, but I'm also up for a good hike or trekking.
Even if I often feel to be too old for partying all night I like to do it occasionally ;-).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel solo and to experience the culture of the country I travel through. And the best way to experience it is to live with locals :-).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My family and I once did a family reunion trip to africa. We went to Namibia and rented a 4x4 and traveled trough Namibia, Botzwana and Simbabwe.
Having the costs in mind we went there in the raining season. That was no problem, only watching some animals becomes more difficult.
One day we drove on mud roads with some waterholes. That went pretty well and after a time we got used to it. At one point there was a sign "deep water ahead" with an arrow to the right. That were the point were we did an mistake.
Thinking:"Okay, on the way right is deep water. Let's continue straight." we didn't think about, that the deep water could be ahead and the sign was a rerouting. Finally we got to an waterhole which was in a corner. We drove in and after a few meters we stayed at a mini island in the waterhole and saw that it continues about 70 meters. Because there was no way back we decided to go through. We'd put in the gear reduction and 4x4 and put the pedal to the metal. The water got deeper and deeper and at one point it began to flew over the hood of the car. A few seconds later we felt like in an aquarium (having water at half of the windshield) and the car began to tilt. Nobody was able to speak anymore, but in the last second the car got grip and we rolled slowly out of the waterhole.
We opened the doors and water ran out of the car and some lights were broken, but we were laughing for a long time.
