MY LOCATION: myself and partner, Ruby, and our dog - Dusty. We are about 30 mins by bus/train from the centre of Melbourne - 5 stations out by train and there is a connecting bike path to cycle in alternatively. Very close to the growing, vibrant arts, food and culture of the inner west!

I like to think I’ve got a pretty good local knowledge and understanding of Melbourne due to my fierce interest in the city, it’s history and culture! I’ve spent a lot of time exploring and enjoying the city and surrounds since childhood.

I believe to find the best way forward we have to learn from the lessons of the past, with an eye on the future and now. I'm an avid history reader (especially Australian history), with a broad range of interests. Currently I'm particularly into exploring sustainable futures, agriculture, food, health and culture.

I travelled through Europe during my studying at university with a particular focus on Germany as I have ancestry there. I'm passionate about sports. Particularly Australian rules and international Football.

I have passionate views and opinions, but I am open minded and enjoy a varied range of interests.

Lastly, I can be reserved and quiet at first until I’m comfortable when meeting new people!

I believe in sharing and the value of a non-monetary shared economy. I believe that the benefits of sharing and appreciate culture, self and interests far surpasses any drawbacks to the idea.

I hate the idea of spending time in a city other than my own and staying in a sterile and uninteresting hotel. I'd like to meet people and engage with culture and localities.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Mostly listen to Australian artists old, new and emerging. Some favourites are King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Midnight Oil, INXS, Cold Chisel, Crowded House, Paul Kelly, The Murlocs.

My all time favourite movies are Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit - I spent many years reading these books and watching the films of the Tolkien universe during my youth. These days I mostly watch documentary films or Aus Cinema. My favourite actor is Hugo Weaving, and favourite filmmaker right now is Warwick Thornton.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Started couchsurfing as a surfer in November 2015 and had a hell of a lot of great experiences in Europe and met some incredible people, who I still talk to til this day!

Apart from that, I was lucky enough to go on a top secret behind the scenes tour of Weta Workshop in Wellington, NZ. It was amazing to experience the studio that made my favourite films.

I am only fluent in English, but have a strong grasp on the language and would be able to help anyone who is not first language English improve their vocabulary and speech.

I can introduce you to photography or filmmaking and teach you Australian culture and it's history.

I can definitely share beer and a bit of witty conversation.

I can share a bit of Australian culture and an alternative way of life and thinking. I'm pretty immersed in Australian sports, literature, music and film and have a strong interest in culture and societies and the environment. My hopes are I can share what I've learnt about the place I live and the way I live with the people I meet in exchange for an experience of their own.
