I like meeting new people and learning about their lives. I play the guitar and like to sing, though I am not a serious musician. I wrote my PhD dissertation about Dante and enjoy reading literature and I have translated from the Italian some. I enjoy chaotic cities and the calm of the countryside. I can cook some but as I continue to travel and cook less and less I am losing my touch! I have no prejudice and am comfortable with all beliefs, creeds, genders and sexual persuasions. I am discreet and like to think I have good manners, although its probably not very discreet to brag about one's manners, I'll just stop writing here :-)

I am new to couchsurfing, but I want to use it more as when I travel I like to get to know the people who have already entrenched themselves in what is a new place for me, I like to learn about their lives, why they are here, and what they have discovered about themselves and their relation to this new place. I don't mind paying for a place but Airbnb is no longer the social network it was and the hosts have become too interested in making money and less on making new friends.
