Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to host as often as possible.

Don't get to travel much myself these days; on those rare occasions, I like to get to know the destinations better by staying with locals.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Got in touch with CS through a friend who moved to Berlin and liked the way it enables anyone to travel the world.

Became a member somewhere in 2010, have hosted far more than I've surfed and have only had positive experiences.

Interests

Very interested in history and languages.

Apart from meeting up with friends,one hobby takes up most of my spare time: I love to play snooker (very amateur in a local club), any ambition in that sport lies in refereeing, which brings me all over Europe from time to time.

I like classic cars and restored a 1968 Volkswagen, which I try to take on one road trip per year.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most forms of English humour; sitcoms like Coupling or Blackadder, sketch shows like The Fast Show or Monty Python or panel shows like QI or Have I got News for you.

I enjoy classical music, folk, classic and alternative rock, Neue Deutsche Welle and closer to home kleinkunst.

Apart from that I still have to find the time to read hundreds of books and watch hundreds of films that were recommended to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking through the streets of snowy Vienna at night, where the calmness and the grandeur of the city left an indelible impression on me and made me do an Erasmus exchange there.

The warmth and self-evidence with which couchsurfers accept you into their lives and homes for a while.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and enjoy all sorts of foods and drinks from all over the world. If there's enough time, I like to cook together with surfers, show them some typical dishes from here, and maybe learn how to make some of theirs.
