About Me
Hi everyone!
I'm Patrizia, currently living in Berlin, though I was born elsewhere (just as most people who claim to be from here) - Hanover, to be exact. When I'm not at Uni (studying Literature and Philosophy), I enjoy meeting up with my friends, going for a swim in Potsdam (sounds absurd, but Potsdam's got the most amazing indoor swimming pool and the S-Bahn drives past some beautiful lakes...that's my treat), writing (yup, creative writing, though I don't like the term all that much), play the piano and, since, uhm, now, the guitar as well.
I love meeting new people (as most of you guys, I guess), chatting about anything from the universe (literally - I'm quite an astronomy geek and learned the circulations periods of all back then nine planets by heart when I was a kid) to music (Muse, Brahms, and all the indie music you probably know from XFM - shout-out to all the Brits out there!), literature, or the edge French presses have on filter machines.
What else?
I worked for a social organisation in London some time ago, so the UK will always have a very special place in my heart; I'm not as experienced a traveller as I'd like to be.
I love meeting new people, but still can be quite an introvert at times; I like cooking better than baking; I am so bad at making decisions, I don't have a favourite anything (colour, song, book), except for a favourite movie which is The Lord of the Rings;
I'm scared of dogs, but wouldn't mind having a dozen of spiders crawling all over my face; I like knitting, I like making my own jam out of pretty much any fruit; I'm a vegetarian; I love jokes that make no sense whatsoever, I like maths and going secondhand shopping;
I do like telling my flatmates about the dreams I had the previous night when meeting them in the kitchen the morning after; I can play the piano but I couldn't read sheet music to save my life;
and writing about "who I am" feels like the most difficult thing there is right after getting Knut, my driving instructor, to refrain from asking me why I "never just do as me tells me to" (yup, learning to drive these days).
Hope that gives you at least an idea as to who I am! lots of love and have a great day!
Music, Movies, and Books
Lord of the rings (the films - giving the books another try at the moment though!), The Secret History by Donna Tartt, my mum recommended it to me a long time before it hit tumblr, anything by German writer Daniel Kehlmann, Catch Me If You Can, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (anyone seen the play?), L'Étranger, and much more that probably comes to mind the instant I close this tab.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Working in London! Pretty much the best time I've had.
Also, I had to wait for a train in a tiny village after hiking, some time last winter, and it was the coldest day of the year. I felt like my feel were going to freeze off but the train just wouldn't come. The only house around there was a café near the platform, and the owner who happened to be around cleaning the place (it was closed that day) opened the shop just for me because "it looked so cold outside". I later did some digging and found an e-mail address so I could thank her again, and we exchanged some really nice mails after that. Believe in the kindness of strangers! Or so they say.
