About Me
ABOUT ME
I always feel awkward writing paragraphs about myself, so here's a list of random facts about me:
-I don't like chocolate...I know, criminal, but it just doesn't taste good to me!
-I'm part optimist and part activist, but more than most anything, I'm a dreamer.
-I've been called a "surprise hippie," though I try not to bother much with labels. I guess it means that at first glance, you probably wouldn't expect to me to hold the beliefs and interests that I do.
-I can rap...and from what I've been told, I'm actually really good at it. See, you didn't expect that, did you?
-I try to at all times be compassionate, balanced, humble, wise, deep and empathetic.
-I defy expectations whenever possible.
-I have a *long* bucket list of places to travel.
-If it's a game, I'll probably play it.
-I'm a beer geek. I also love a glass of good whiskey.
-I love food and cooking.
-At the rare times when I'm not listening to music, I have a song or beat stuck in my head.
-I enjoy hiking and camping, though I haven't been in a while.
-I want to learn to surf. And to longboard.
-I think art is wonderful.
-It's said that we can be known by the company we keep. I prefer to think that we can be known by how much better off said company is for knowing us.
-It's not what I'm doing that's most important, or even who I'm doing it with...as long as everyone's having fun, so am I!
-If you couldn't guess, I'm a very passionate person, and I love spreading that passion to others in whatever ways I can.
PHILOSOPHY
I could write pages trying to give a detailed explanation, but at it's core it's very simple: be here now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just joined, so we'll find out!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
After high school, I took two years off before starting college. This was before CouchSurfing really took off, but I was traveling in the exact same way. I mostly stayed with friends and family, but fairly often I'd make new friends and hit them up the next time I passed through their city. I've been all up and down the eastern US and as far north as Montreal.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a fairly wide range of music...reggae (both roots and cali), rap (mainly underground), rock (classic rock, some metal and stuff I grew up with), folk, bluegrass, jazz and electronica (drum-and-bass, ambient, acid jazz, psytrance).
As far as TV goes, my favorites are Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Dexter, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Futurama, Seinfeld, South Park, Firefly, Family Guy, Archer, Scrubs, The Simpsons and probably a couple others I'm forgetting.
Just a few of my many favorite movies: The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men, Eastern Promises, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Fight Club, Blade Runner, The Matrix, Good Will Hunting, Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, and some weird films like Koyaanisqatsi and Baraka.
I read *way* too much to list all my favorite books. Maybe later.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seen: The Grand Canyon. No picture or story can ever do it justice. One of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Done: Last year, AmeriCorps (the organization I work for) placed me working with kids at a teen center in Hampton, VA. Put simply, that work provided amazing experiences every day. Too often we look for grand, huge events when we think of "amazing." Often the most incredible things are those that happen every day, right under our noses.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I know a good bit about computers, so if anyone's interested I can teach them about that. And I know a decent amount about survival, though I'm no Les Stroud. Like I said above, I rap and write poetry, and I used to write prose, so if you're looking for someone to bounce ideas off of I'm happy to help. Also, if you're a deep thinker like I am, I guarantee we can have some excellent conversations about most any topic.
