About Me

I am an American living and working in Stuttgart as an English teacher. I have been in Germany since the end of May and lived here as an exchange student twenty years ago. I enjoy exercising, walking, the occasional late night run (even in freezing cold weather:) and reading. I am a Christian and meet with other believers in a local church.

I have a good sense of humor and like to write poems from time to time. Here is the last one I wrote in the form of a newsletter that I just recently sent home:

"Thinking of you this time of year, makes me smile and gives me cheer,
Forgetting the past and looking beyond, as Paul exhorts us,
we should press on.
It is never too late to make a new start, and I hope that we all can never depart, from the fondness of times, and the memories at hand, that we all shared in our native home land.
So, I write to you know from a far-away-place, but Gott sei Dank I can still see your face...
You will see my eyes twinkle and my smile anew, As I think of all the good times that I had with you:)"

Looking forward to good conversation:)
Paul

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like the community. I enjoy traveling on the weekends and I have always experienced great hospitality...I thought I could use Couchsurfing as a way to meet new people and make connections for future trips:)

Music, Movies, and Books

I always enjoy Classical music and think that Mozart is one the the greatest composers of all time. I played the violin as a kid and now have one at my disposal... and would be more motivated to play it if someone else could accompany me with a guitar or other instrument.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting a work visa in Germany was no less than amazing:)

Teach, Learn, Share

Paul means "small" and apparently the first three letters of my last name "Gil" also means small. I have two diminutive names although I am over six feet tall! Since I am so easily seen in public places, I am often approached my wandering people who think I know where I am going and always hit me up for directions:) I don't mind...I guess it is just part of the game of being in Germany.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good laugh, a fun story, maybe a picture or two, and anything else that comes to mind:) I pick up after myself, am a pretty good guest as well as a host, and enjoy being around people:)

Countries I’ve Visited
