I've just finished working for a year and a half in France and now finally getting to see a bit more of the country and continent.
I'd prefer not to be adding to over tourism problems but it's hard to escape the fact that I'm here adding to the numbers. As such, I don't use air BNB anymore and stay with friends, or use registered accommodation. And now I am also hoping to meet more locals via couchsurfing again.

I spent 19 years in the Air Force in NZ.
After spending the first 11 years of my career as a specialist aircraft welder and the remaining time as aircrew on the C-130 Hercules. I left the job I loved to see the world. My aircrew job took me to many places around the world and gave me a taste of what's to see out there. Albeit, from a much different viewpoint to regular travel. I've so far spent nearly 3 years travelling throughout Latin America and loved it all.

Everyone is treated with equal respect, regardless of colour, sex or any other differences we might have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know the real culture and people in places I'm travelling. I will be staying in hostels, using couchsurfing and staying with friends I've met on my travels etc but my focus is to actually enjoy the culture of each place and not just do all the tourist activities.

I'm here to interact and share however understand also that people have their own lives and can't always share all your time while I'm in your house so I remain flexible.
To share skills, languages and experiences with other people.
Money is not my motivation for using couchsurfing.

Interests

Anything goes almost but to name a few: Diving, sailing, fishing, skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, trekking, and almost any sport.
I love cooking (because I love eating so much). Baking and brewing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love many types of music though I mostly enjoy singer songwriter types like Ben Howard and Jack Johnson but also love a lot of reggae, chilled, and edm.
I love watching movies but am not a regular watcher, I prefer to be interactive.
