ABOUT ME

I am an American and have lived in Europe more than 20 years. I lived in Paris, Rome, Venice and have recently moved to Spoleto in Umbria. I work on international projects and travel a great deal -- usually Middle East and Africa. I am a pretty quiet, well-read, sort of guy. I am not a partier. Kind of an over coffee or dinner sort of person

PHILOSOPHY

Well politically I am liberal. I am broad minded. If you voice an opinion, be able to support it.

As for philosophy, I don't think one can answer that in in a space like this without resorting to a cliche. I tend read philosophy of the Enlightenment, some contemporary such as Bernard Williams.

I like literature, art, hiking, biking, tennis, good conversation, and wine. A big group for me is 6 people.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I read a lot. Eclectic but serious. As for fiction authors: 1) English: beyond the usual canon, Russell Banks, Michael Cunningham, Don Delillo, Cormac McCarthy, Marilynne Robinson; 2) Spanish: Roberto Bolano, Vargas-Llosa, 3) Italian: Italo Calvino, Elena Ferrante, 4) French: Andre Malraux, Proust, Yourcenar. For non-fiction, I tend to read history, philosophy, and such.

I like movies, but mainly see them on planes.

I wish I knew more about music.
