Overview
About Me
I grew up around Hannover. My parents are Polish, so we went there on our holidays. I sailed a lot with my family and later in a club.
In 2012 I moved to Saarbrücken to study computer science and cyber security. Then I worked for some years as a software developer in a startup.
I am very active and like climbing, sailing, racing bike and hiking. I like to be outdoors a lot.
I am interested in science and technology.
I have a little workshop/lab where I like to make stuff. When I felt I was looking into computer screens too much I enjoyed building things out of wood or doing repairs in our shared flat of six people. In my last projects, I played around with smart-home ideas, created a real-time sound-responsive light show and built lounge furniture out of old planks fur our terrace.
I also like cooking when I have time for it.
I am concerned regarding climate change and interested in understanding what has to change and how the changes can be achieved.
I am often somewhat suspicious of popular opinions and like to dig into ideas. Because of that it sometimes may feel like I am opposing ideas in conversations when I am instead merely playing devil's advocate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to explore a city from the viewpoint of someone living there. Also, I like to meet fun people and exchange ideas with new acquaintances.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to hear nearly every kind of music depending on my mood. But usually, I listen to electronic music.
When I was younger I learned to play guitar. I stopped playing for a long time. During my studies I met friends that studied music. We made a lot of music while hanging out and they got me really excited about music theory. This was when I started learning to play piano. I like to play modern classic style music.
Sometimes I enjoy looking for really good recordings of classic, modern and percussive music and then just sitting on my couch in front of a good set up speakers to listen to it. I got really crazy about the sound quality and did things like putting old mattresses on the walls to improve the listening experience.
Some movies I liked are "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri", "Parasite", "Mind Game", "Paprika", "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", "Triangle of Sadness", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "2001: A Space Odyssey", "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "The Grand Budapest Hotel", anything by Quentin Tarantino and by Studio Ghibli.
Some books I liked a lot are "The Little Prince" and "The Three-Body Problem". Unfortunately I don't often read books. I mostly read non-fictional stuff on the web.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailing from France to Mexico on a cargo schooner with 14 other shipmates.
In Mexico, I went to a small village to learn how to make a Mayan hammock.
