Overview
About Me
Originally from upstate NY but I've also lived in Long Island, Philadelphia, and currently Cairo (Egypt) since 2009. I'm open minded, very laid back and interested in a lot of things: art, music, history, politics... I've always loved travelling and used to back-pack for 5 or 6 months every few years before I moved to Cairo for graduate school. I teach English here to support myself and I've done a lot traveling to the West Bank where I was doing research on non-violent resistance to the Israeli occupation there for my MA program a few years back. Like to meet new people from all kinds of social, cultural and political backgrounds and understand as many different ways of seeing the world as I can. I'm pretty left-wing politically but I can get along with pretty much anyone as long as they're a decent human being and treat other people like human beings too. I'm currently trying to write something.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Heading to Northern California for a few months. Trying to write creatively and need a break from Cairo for a while someplace greener. Interested in finding temporary work in the area if I can.
Music, Movies, and Books
All of them. But only the ones that aren't like the others. And especially those that contradict themselves.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I turned into a bird once and flew through storm clouds and the canopies of steaming forests. Then I got bored and wrote this fake story to put in the amazing box.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very good at procrastinating. I can teach you the secrets of my craft.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Will recite poetry on demand. Or under the influence.
