About Me

Hey there! I’m Paul Whitford, an engineer by trade but an art, design, and nature enthusiast at heart. From 2021 to 2023, I had the amazing opportunity to travel around Gran Canaria and Mainland Spain. One of my biggest adventures was walking the Camino del Norte – that’s 880km from Irun to Santiago and on to Finisterra, all in 28 days with just my tent and backpack. I love meeting new people who share my passions and making meaningful connections along the way. I'm currently working on a Ceramic Cup project, check it out at @cupancups - cups in exchange for couches I say! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m couchsurfing because I love meeting new people and making connections with like-minded folk. It seems like a great way to explore local spots that I guess I’d never find as a tourist.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m into almost every kind of music, but lately it's been Max Richter, Blanco White, and Martin Hayes – talk about eclectic! When it comes to books, I love “Anam Cara” by John O’Donohue and “Human Chain” by Seamus Heaney. As for movies, well, my favorite isn’t exactly a movie – it’s “Waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett, which is more of a play. I’m definitely more into performance and theatre than traditional movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2022, I ran a 65km Ultramarathon called Trans Gran Canaria. It took me just over 10 hours to complete, and it was an incredible experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m all about diving into art, design, philosophy, psychology, meditation, mindfulness, and tantra. Whether it’s learning something new, teaching what I know, or just sharing experiences, I’m always up for a good conversation and exchange of ideas!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer nice conversations, respect for boundaries, cleanliness and trust. Plus, if you ever find yourself in Ireland, I can provide a place to stay or at the very least, be an awesome tour guide!
