CURRENT MISSION

To explore Britain till Christmas. I've been to Australia, Asia and Europe but I've neglected the fair isle of my birth. Also my passport ran out.

ABOUT ME

My friends say I'm like Marmite, cos I look like sh*t.
I've had two distinct careers. The first was investment banking then I ran a carpentry and parquet flooring business, specialising in reclaimed timber and renovation. I've enjoyed the woodwork and learned a lot as there's a certain zen element to carpentry, especially with crappy old wood. Now I'm taking a travel break to decide what to do next.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meeting up for laughs and adventures. I love to explore and shoot the breeze. I like museums, the outdoors, lectures as well as a few drinks and a chat. I often find the most boring things are the most fun as I said to a former girlfriend as I passed her a piece of fossilized giant ground sloth dung at a Natural History Museum talk.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Last year I cycled to Bristol and met Pat and the guys for their monthly meet up. I had a great time and was sad that I couldn't stay there for longer.

Music wise I like house music for going out or working faster. After that I like a broad range including Bob Marley and Gomez.

I watch To Rome With Love by Woody Allen the other day and made a mental note to watch more Woody Allen.

Jungle trekking in Sumatra has to be among the most memorable, but there was diving on the barrier reef (scuba, not Tom Daily style).
I met Rolf Harris once,
I laid a parquet floor for TV's Lucy Benjamin and I saw Phil Mitchell in the bogs at the Aquarium club in London, which is weird because they were an item once.

I can fix things that are made out of wood, although sometimes I need additional wood.
I like to learn and chat about a whole range of stuff you never know where information will take you.
