About Me

I mostly think of myself as a decent human being, rational and even-tempered.
If you want deep, serious conversations, I will probably bring you an open-minded but thorough sparring partner.
If you want more quiet or feel-good moments, I can do that too :)
I like to learn, exchange ideas and experience, and challenge even my deeply-held views, including by meeting weird peoples and getting out of my comfort zones.
I will probably take deep interest in whatever you are passionate about, but in addition my favorite topics may include : how distinct are different areas in the world and different people in general ; which lifestyles and policies make sense (taking into account social and environmental constraints) ; how to care for others and oneself, think and feel ; what is intelligence, wisdom and sanity ; what's the best sports and art (music, movies, books) in the world - or maybe just for me ; etc.

I've traveled quite a bit, especially 8 months in 2018, including hitchhiking, sleeping in tents or in cars, Couchsurfing of course, and occasionally weirder venues.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I had the chance, I hosted as many people as I could, especially people from countries I would seldom hear about, and people who looked kind, interesting, funny. It was awesome, I have stars in my brain when I think about the discussions, the laughters, the ones I visited back months or years afterwards, the one who stayed several weeks just because we enjoyed living together, the things I dared to do because they inspired me...

Then I've traveled myself using Couchsurfing, and loved it too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : I can stand any style. I love intense or moody music and hybrid/fusion genres that take inspiration in classical, metal, blues, jazz, hip-hop, electro, folk... My culture is mostly classical music, rock, hard rock (specially the 70's) and metal (specially heavy and symphonic), and some kinda-old french "variety" (pop).
Music is to me the most subjectively emotional art and I seldom dare to play my music for someone to discover any more, but I can share it if you're very open-minded, or I can suggest specific things based on your tastes.

Books : I mostly read essays (history, psychology and education, politics) and comics (serious or for youth) but I do love novels when I dive into one. Like many people, I spend more time on Wikipedia, Netflix, Youtube than in a real book, and whine about it.

Movies : I'm quite easy to please considering how demanding (intellectually/artistically/ethically/technically...) I can be otherwise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm not secret at all and I like sharing a lot, but I try not to have this package of "cool things that happened to me and that I need to tell everyone I meet". Or maybe this package only contains my reluctancy to be such a person ? ;) Anyway I'll tell you when the conversation reminds me of these unforgettable moments, especially travel memories.

I'd still say my two biggest adventures were having kids and changing jobs several times.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can mostly lend you a very open ear and informed or benevolently critical mouth.
We can practice any of my 3 languages. I can surely show you chess or card games, and share my (limited) knowledge about for instance maths, economics, politics, social science or history.
