Describing myself as open would probably be an understatement! I love 'meeting' people. Sharing life with people. All types of people. If you're real, I'll know it, and we will get along.

How easy it is to love those we know and understand... If only we could learn to know and understand more people...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

1st official CS experience was in Edmonton, Canada. All the guys were friendly and super open. The house had more guests than it did residents and I had this one guy come home drunk and trip over me every night I was there! So lots of unexpected surprises but definitely a positive experience overall. Thanks guys!!Spent a week crashing in on a fold-out couch a tiny apartment with extended Family in New York City for Christmas (none of whom I'd previously met!). It was about as stereotypical as you could imagine!Also spent a week on a friends couch in Quebec City over New Years which was about 20°C colder than anywhere else I'd ever been! It was great to be welcomed into an entirely new group of friends. So similar yet so different.

I lived in Seattle for 12 months. From camping, to hosting, to coffee or language meetups, CS was a good way to get out and do things with people. Often, the random meetup activities are the best. Like this one time, I walked all around Seattle Zoo with a couch surfer I just met because we couldn't find the rest of the group.

In 2013 I traveled through France. Stayed with Couch Surfers, Monks, distant family, friends of distant family, you name it! Great experience. The local touch makes all the difference :)

2013-14 spent 18 months in Europe surfing and meeting people whenever I can :)

I play the drums so I'm drawn to Metal and Jazz.
Eclectic would be an understatement... conventional would be incorrect... I like music too much to appreciate what generally passes for 'popular'...

I like books that teach you what you now realise you already knew...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked 900kms on the Camino de Santiago

18 months travel in Europe - learning how to live 'one day at a time'.

2 weeks living in a remote aboriginal community up the top end of the Northern Territory in Australia. was pretty amazing. Life flipped upside-down! The culture was the complete opposite of everything I'd ever experienced.

World Youth Day Madrid!! Nothing like 1 million young Catholics to get the party started!

I have a gift for explaining the complicated in terms of the simple. Physics, philosophy, theology, human behaviour... Nothing is so complicated that it cannot be understood, at least in part.

I am keenly interested in other people's personal philosophies. You'd be surprised what you can learn, but simply asking yourself WHY you believe what you believe...
I love sharing language. I have a working knowledge of quite a few, but never have the opportunity to become fluent.

As an aerospace engineer I end up answering random questions on flight mechanics on a regular basis.
