Long haired freak (in spirit at least - I actually just had a haircut a few months ago) in search of fellow wanderers on the road less traveled.

Lover of words - spoken, written or sung.

Pirate, not ninja.

Dancer, midnight romancer.

I oscillate between being a country boy and a city slicker... I love wilderness and isolation, but sometimes there's nothing like being surrounded by concrete, steel and flesh.

PHILOSOPHY

I am completely naked underneath all my clothes.

Interests

I love to eat, and I love to cook. Spicy food gives me the heartburn, but I don't care, because it's worth any incidental pain and suffering.

I will ready anything that's not nailed down, and some things that are.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read. Infinite Jest, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Cryptonomicon, Jitterbug Perfume... Uh, shit, if I keep listing by book, we'll be here all night. Some favorite authors: Isaac Asimov, Robert Anton Wilson, Philip K. Dick, John Irving, Philip Roth, Philip Jose Farmer, George Alec Effinger, Hunter S. Thompson, Robert Heinlein, Gore Vidal, Tom Robbins, David Foster Wallace, Neal Stephenson, Carlos Castaneda, Ken Kesey and many many more.

Movies are fun, for sure. I like Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, Ghost Dog, Dead Man, True Stories, The Big Lebowski, A Scanner Darkly, and quite a few more, no doubt. I'm a fan of that certain kind of bad movie that makes people like me smile and others run for the hills. Generally speaking, I'd rather listen to an album, or read a book (or both together) than watch a movie.

I'll listen to just about anything, unless it's top 40 hip hop (I just spent 6 weeks with my brother and it was all he listened to - I got enough to last a lifetime). Some of my favorites are: Tom Waits, Warren Zevon, Pigface, Frank Zappa (and let's not forget the Mothers of Invention, Todd Snider Leonard Cohen, Primus, Pink Floyd, Ween, Greg Brown, John Prine, Elliott Smith, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams III, Talking Heads, House of Freaks, Exene Cervenka, System of a Down.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Alaska was a game changer for me. It was only supposed to be a road trip, but I ended up deciding to stay within 2 days of getting there.
