About Me

I am a full-time Mom to three young kids. A few times a year, my husband supports my need to travel and lets me take off, leaving him behind to run the house and take care of the kids. What can I say, he does not like to travel and the kids have to go to school. I guess I can also say, he is wonderful. He accepts me. So, I am a happy solo traveler with a limited budget.
I am responsible, clean and can be quiet if you want me to, or I can talk for hours. I love to meet new people and hear about their life over a cup of coffee. I love to try new food and experience authentic living wherever I am visiting. I am grateful for your generosity in opening up your home for me and I hope I can someday repay you if you visit California. I will respect your home as if it was my own.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people in authentic settings. I am not a tourist, I am a traveler with a backpack. I want to be entrenched in the area I am visiting and I think a hotel setting is not real enough.

Interests

Golf, reading, travel, eating good food, drinking good coffee, long walks, short hikes, diving for interesting sea shells for my kids, the list is endless. I like doing things I don't get a chance to do at home, like white water rafting, rapelling down waterfalls, hiking rain forests, snorkeling, climbing the side of a volcano, etc. I am comfortable pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Music, Movies, and Books

Travel books by expats and what they have experienced. Favorite movies: Forest Gump, Last of the Mahicans, Saw-shank Redemption.
Music: top hits that I can dance to!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rapelling down a 250 foot waterfall in Costa Rica and canyoning the rest at a pretty fast pace with folks 10-20 years younger than me and I could keep up!

Allowing myself to eat food off the street in Thailand and Cambodia.

Walked 560 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share

Past Travel destinations and experiences.

Share ? ...I don't smoke, do drugs and I have never been arrested.
Can share what it is like to have a family and travel with them and travel without them. Many people don't understand how I can do this and why since I am a mother. I travel solo more often than I travel with my family.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Past Travel destinations and experiences. And how to make Curry Fusilli and taco salad! I can help you with English. I love to edit writing. I love to market products. I like to plan events.

I never stop learning. I believe in continuous education and that education does not always come along between the pages of a book. Just because I am married, does not change that I like to travel. I liked to travel before marriage and kids, and I will always travel. It is who I am and it works because my husband knew who he was going to marry. He knew and knows what I love. And respects that I love things that don't always include family. I am an individual and I need to explore and breath! I can teach you that you don't need to fear that you can't have both. I am older than most couch surfers, but I can share what I have learned along the way. Look at is as an opportunity to see your future rather than host an old(er) lady! Guess what, you are getting older everyday and you don't want to have to loose your desire to travel do you!? You'll be where I am some day! And I can share my house with you someday too.
