About Me

* Currently out west for a season of treeplanting *

I love traveling the world, learning about new cultures, learning languages, and learning about agriculture, community development and holistic living.

What an awesome generation we live in with all of these amazing ways to travel and to share with people around the world. I have recently begun taking on various work exchanges through the website helpx where you exchange your work for food and accommodations. This has opened the door to so many neat opportunities to participate in farming, and in helping people build their homesteads.

I am a fun-loving, easy going, musical gal. I would love to stay with you and learn about your city and your favourite places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To see the world, beyond staying in hotels and resorts. I am interested in meeting people, in sharing stories, in learning about life in the cities that I visit.

Interests

I am a hands on person, I love: carpentry, making jewellery, wire-craft, beading, carving, gardening, painting, sculpting

I am very musical, I play guitar, I love to sing and to sing with people, I love playing music as a part of a group, I love just listening to music: whether it is a concert or a jam

I like to spend lot's of time outdoors: walking, biking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, snowboarding, skiing, dogsledding, snowshoeing, planting trees, planting a garden, building things, sailing, spending time with animals, you name it!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music: I love folk, reggae, salsa, indie. I like to hear the instruments, and I love listening to music that I can try to learn.

Books: I do a lot of reading about holistic living and spirituality. Right now I am reading the biography of Golda Meir, Prime Minister of Israel. I like to read for inspiration, and to learn.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent several years working in different First Nation Communities where we worked with youth workers and supported them in running children and youth programming: summer camps, sports, after-school programs and youth leadership programs.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I have a wide range of skills, with a degree in Education, I love teaching others. Things I could share with you: Some knowledge of gardening, all different kinds of beadwork: looming, weaving, peyote stitch, how to make jewellery with wire, feathers, shells. Basic Building: framing, drywall, tiling, bathroom and kitchen installation, ceilings, laminate floors. I have done a lot of work in construction! I have also done some English language instruction.

Learn: I love to learn about holistic living: cooking and mind-body practices. I am eager to learn about farming as I my dream is to one day live off the land. Music, culture, dance , beautiful places... i just love to learn

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've lived a pretty neat life so far: travelling around doing various work exchanges on different farms. Working in remote communities in Northern Ontario. Spending my summers as a tree planter and now as a camp supervisor. I have a lot of different skills and I'd be happy to share and to help out!
