About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get shit done

ABOUT ME

I have been told that I love Berlin just a little too much, saying the one and only is my hometown might prove that xD But I am able to appreciate other cities, as long as i still complain about them not being as good as berlin it probably means i see them as a reasonable competitor. I would describe myself as funny, flexible, polite, nice and all the other stuff that pretty much everyone starts with when they write about themselves, probably theres a reason for that. I love relaxing and watching stuff, i like drinking, i like to have meaningful conversations and i like to just hmm, goof around comes to mind, sounds like a sitcom character from the 60s, not that id know how one of those sounds, maybe i should check whether 60s sitcoms are to my liking...(secret question: whats the last thing you bought although you did not need it?) anyway, i have also been told that i sometimes use too many words, possible, i wouldnt be surprised. Other than that, I love the fine things in life, good food, good company, and im gonna be bold eough to say that i think i might be able to provide both. I like writing long and unneccessarily complicated sentences, occupational hazard i suppose, i like literature in all its forms, did I mention movies already? I think thats pretty much about it, or at least a basic idea of what i am about. or not, who knows?

PHILOSOPHY

im afraid i might be a horrible horrible opportunist, or not, who knows. i like to live and let live, but that sounds as if i dont care about other people, maybe just live? and dont panic; stuff always works itself out, and even if not, panic wont change anything either ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am able to host, i have a nice sofa in my room on which i love to sleep and my flatmates are also occasionally hosting. obviously i also like the couchsurfing network as a guest, getting to know people, i love to see how other people live and i also love to show how i live (though this mess i call home is really not much to show xD)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I would call myself a rather active host, which hasnt left me much time to travel and surf (yet). so far it has been amazing, great people, great fun and a really good way of getting to know my very own city so much better, i went places ive never been to before, ive eaten stuff i didnt even know there were shops selling it and ive talked and talked and talked and learned so many things, i maybe even should start writing them down xD as far as hosting goes i have already made the experience that sending couchrequests seems to be a rather exhausting business, so exhausting that some people even consider their request personalized when they bother to change the name every time they copy and paste, quite impressive actually, but kidding aside, i probably wont accept any requests which give me the impression that five hundred other couchsurfers have gotten the exact same one. so i would very much appreciate it if there was any indication in your request that you at least skimmed the text of my profile. Bonus points: if you answer the secret question that i will hide in plain sight, you will not only amuse me, but also make me check my calendar whether i am able to host ;-)

Interests

oh god, didnt plan ahead, already talked about my interests above, probably couldve broken down the chunk of text into more digestable bits. hm, for the lazy readers heres a summary: movies, books, talk, thoughts, eat, drink, do, live

  • writing
  • books
  • literature
  • dining
  • beer
  • running
  • drinking
  • movies
  • traveling
  • magic
  • business

Music, Movies, and Books

uhhh, i wrote my master-thesis paper on Warm Bodies and Romeo Must Die, so you can cross those off the list ;-). i read Game of Thrones when i was 10 (traumatized for life) and rejoiced big time when i stumbled on the tv-series. on the more serious side: Haruki Murakami, big fan, Goethe is actually alrighter than people sometimes give him credit for, tarantino makes the list jumping from books to movies to books to movies here, though Django couldve been more to my liking, Oldboy, epic epic movie, I have been told i like the gruesome ones, but thats not exactly the case, i think i like movies that surprise me, that do something different, saw cheap thrills the other day, almost puked, and loved it, simply for the reason that in this day and age there is a movie that is able to make your stomach queasy, though i thought i had seen it all and was toughened. I usually end up talking books or movies anyways so ill leave the list at that for now, though it is longer (like, ohmygod, a lot). oh music, right, i like music, my favourite kind is strong music, so music that moves something in you, doesnt matter what genre or interpret it is, i probably have a horrible taste in music because for me the quality is not exactly important, but what i associate with it or what it makes me feel. i have a tendency towards rock, maybe even bordering on a like for hardrock, but i keep an open mind

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

there was this one time, where i didnt actually see something amazing, and thats the amazing thing about it; we were playing tag in the woods at night and i was running from the one who was "it" and i had this amazing moment of clarity in which i realized that i was outrunning him, and then i had this second, even greater moment of clarity, where i realized that i couldnt see the moon that had been shining bright just a second ago. and then i got to experience this magic split-second that seems to stretch out forever, in which i realized that i was gonna run against a tree and that it was way too late for my body to do anything about it. i had bruises for three days, but in the moment itself i just laid there and laughed my ass off

Teach, Learn, Share

uhh, teaching, gotta love the teaching. i end up doing that anyway, again, occupational hazard, but you cant be a teacher if youre afraid to learn, so teach: everything i know, or think i know; learn: everything there is to learn. And how to open a beer using a lighter, everyone couchsurfing here so far was able to do it after their stay and i will insist on everyone having a go
