About Me

Hi, I'm Paul. I come from the Irish countryside, where everywhere you look you see a different shade of green. It's really a very beautiful country and I'm very lucky to live here. I love music, photography and have spent the last few years working with children which I love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to meet local people wherever I travel, as I think it adds to the experience having a local to tell you the best places to go and see. I'm also a very social person, so I love to meet new people whenever I travel to new countries.

Interests

I love music, and I've been playing the guitar since a very young age. I love listening to Irish traditional music and learning how to play it. I also love Sports, especially our native Irish sports. I love to take photographs whenever I travel, to document the trip but also to try and capture the culture and atmosphere of the location in a photograph. I have lots of other interests like learning languages, listening to podcasts, reading and hiking through the countryside.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Irish music, so a band called The Gloaming is one of my favourites. Also Van Morrison is an absolute legend. I love Bob Dylan, Neil Young, David Bowie, and lots of folk music.

I like to watch foreign language films as I feel like they give me an insight into other cultures and countries.

My favourite book is Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Berniers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've swam through a cave in Guatemala with only a candle to guide the way.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely teach any couchsurfer a few chords on the guitar! I also could teach the basics of the Irish language.

I would love to learn bits of each language - the most useful parts. I also love to learn about culture and what that means in each country I travel to - cooking, traditional music, historic sights, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share in great conversations that can cover a wide range of topics!! I also love to tell people about life in Ireland and our history.
