One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many moments of awe! ahhhh!
Hmmm...I went with a bunch of friends on a boat(surf) trip in Indonesia and all the boats were taken except for this old pirate ship. We took it even though all of our other friends suggested the normal motor boats. The indonesian ocean is magical and pure, we were blessed with so many beautiful moments of surf, diving and exploration but the very best part was when our pirate ship "broke" and it left us stranded on an island called "Safari Island". Safari Island is a tiny island that farms oysters for pearls. The people there spoke no english at all, and they were strict muslims. We were not prepared for it but we got chased out because we were practically "naked" to them. We put some clothes on and went back into the village to apologize and the amount of love that was shared between everyone was astounding. The sun setting into the azure ocean made an explosion of colors that reflected the same feelings that I felt amongst the villagers. My words don't do justice.
Another moment i've been awestruck is when I met a friend in Germany. This meet up wasn't completely intentional. We had planned to meet up at some point in our travels he was coming from a trip in Australia and Japan and I was coming from Hawaii. We had no communication for a week, so there was no set plan on how we were going to meet up but out of nowhere I bumped into him in Frankfurt! It was really weird and the timing was perfect! The world is so small, yet bigger than I have ever expected!
Recently I was body surfing at Waimea Bay and it was getting into the late hours of the evening. The sky during its last hour, illuminated with vibrant colors of spring meadows. Then a rainbow that stretched across the sky somehow got caught into a wispy cloud and it looked like pure magic. Me and my friends were amazed then as we ducked under the water to body surf, I heard something billowing. It was like an eerie sound of mystery. It was a conversation between and adult humpback whale to a younger(possibly its calf.) The beautiful pattern of sky, land and sea felt like a melody being sung to me by the earth itself. I felt so humble and loved. Like I was being held gently by a soothing mother.
