About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Help people, live life to the fullest, learn to walk in high heels for a whole evening!
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Texas but always traveled. I went to college in New York and graduated in '99. I was a counselor for troubled teens and a security guard for concerts/sporting events for two years. I taught HIV ed and reproductive health in Jamaica with teens as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years. Then, I sat behind a screen, typing and muttering at the "stupid machine". I went through Europe for a couple of months, then came home and started school again. I've spent the last three years working on a Master's in Applied Anthropology and another in Public Health while working for Planned Parenthood. While in school, I got to spend a couple of months in Nicaragua, a few weeks in Hawaii and, a few months in Kenya. I'm having fun living life large! If you'd like to read in blogs how my mind thinks or see more pictures, please feel free to request me as a friend through my MySpace account: myspace.com/peacecory
PHILOSOPHY
When we stop learning, we stop living. Dance like no one is watching. Respect and listen to your elders: Experience is a better teacher than we give it credit for. Listen to the children for they are smarter than adults remember them to be. (How many cliches do I need to fill the quota here?)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would love to participate in CS more - I joined a few years ago at the urging of a friend, then went inactive until now. I wish I had been able to be more a part of this wonderful network and would like to jump on in there now! However, I call my car "home" and have been basically CSing for the past 8 months; once I have a couch to offer, it all yours!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Unfortunately, I wasn't all that active in CS for the past few years. I bounce around so much that it's been hard to host and I always forget to look into this as an option. I hope to get better about both!
Interests
Amazingly enough, I have found that most everything can interest me. I love learning - just teach me something! Baseball is STILL boring to me, though.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Oldies and new ones that make me laugh and feel warm. Those that make me cry more than once or twice through the movie may be good to see once, then I'm done.
Music: Runs the gamut - I mostly like folkish music, have played the French Horn so can appreciate classical, can jam with some reggae and other angry music when feeling it, worked with teens for a long time so learned to love hip hop and Top 20s, and am willing to listen to just about anything.
Books: I've been moved, inspired, and amused by Richard Bach, Daniel Quinn, "The Celestine Prophecy", "Life of Pi", and many others. Now that I have graduated, I'm slowly getting to read for fun again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been to over half of the U.S., two other continents, the bridge of the Americas, the other two countries in N. America, and two beautiful islands. In each place, I try to talk with as many people as possible, do as many things as I am told to do (or not to do!), and laugh as often as possible. Having the ability to see and do everything is amazing! There have been so many amazing moments like skydiving and quietly watching a movie with my mom, and there has been so much life lived. I have loved every second of it because even the bad or scary stuff teaches - if even to love the great moments more!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a cultural medical anthropologist with an interest in reproductive health at the international level. I have been working on two degrees in order to be allowed to teach as many people as possible. Basically, I can teach how to multitask and how to visualize your goals into becoming a reality.
I know quite a few random things: I can teach you how to change a tire and your spark plugs (saves SO much money!), how to pack lots of things into a tiny space, and how to make some killer southern or Italian food. My random knowledge is best found by what pops out.
