About Me

Hi, I am Pedro and I am a 26-year-old PhD student. I grew up in Portugal, in Lagos, and after I finished high school, in 2015, I went to Aveiro and then Lisbon to pursue my BSc and MSc degrees in Physics. Right now I am a PhD student at the University of Innsbruck and living the life of a Tirolian with daily doses of skiing and hikes in the mountains.
During my PhD my plan is to do find gaps in the system and travel around the world mostly focused on South America and Southeast Asia, as a way of changing my view of the world, becoming more humble, and learning from different cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After finishing my MSc in Lisbon I moved to Aveiro in the beginning of 2022 to do 1 year of research at the University there. During that time I was living in a lovely studio where I found the best opportunity to start hosting couchsurfers, and it was totally worth it. I met a lot of people, from completely different backgrounds and with crazy stories about their lives. I have kept in contact with most of them and I have also reunited with some (those still in Europe). The others, outside of Europe, I am yet to meet but I am planning on in the near future.
Meeting these amazing people and experiencing their gratefulness makes is what gives the magic to this community of couchsurfers. It is also what makes me eager to continue to host and be hosted by couchsurfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I like various pieces of music from different artists, but if I really had to pick a band or group I would say "The Lumineers", "Tash Sultana" and "Salvador Sobral".
Movie: Interstellar
Book: Memorial do Convento, Homo Sapiens

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My master thesis (ahah joking). I would say a 10-day road trip in Morocco with 3 friends and a car older than me while camping in the wild.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I could teach the mysteries of the universe and why things behave the way they do, like the physics behind them. Or, if you are not that nerd, I could teach you how to cook typical Portuguese food or even how to play the guitar.

Learn: I would really like to learn how to draw or paint and how to speak German (or other languages).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Now that I am in Tirol and properly welcomed by the people here, I am able to provide you with a proper glimpse into the Tyrolian lifestyle and share the magic behind the nature here and the mountains.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Colombia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom
