PHILOSOPHY

I'm an atheist believer in radical determinism. It's a phylosophy that follows me or I follow "her" since 2008. Do you know what is Determinism? Its the opposite of free will, I don¨t have any doubt that our future is already "writen", it's basically the infinite regression of justification. Fernando Savater was my mentor, and with his expertise and knowledge, I wrote a book called "The Possibilities of Action" (As Possibilidades do Agir). Determinism is a philosophical theory that is based that every event (including mental) is explained by causal and cientific relationships. Basically, it is the opposite of freedom, and what I try to explain on the book is certain human behaviors. When we born we are not good or bad people, we just want to be happy, but without knowing why, we become "good" or "bad" people". What are this definitions? How can we speak about justice when human behaviours are determined by our genetics and the environment? Are we trying to go against our nature? Whats is wrong, and what is not? what is natural and what¨s not?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started doing couchsurfing for more than 10 years already , cos when I was young I had a dream about meeting people that I didn't know about, discover the world and couchsurfing allows you to do just that. Host people from several countries and also did couchsurfing in other countries besides Portugal. I know that everybody says the same but is one of the best ways to share our cultures and practise other languages. I often think about this: We are about 6 billion people in this planet, how many brothers, soul mates, friends for live, could you have if you met them all? Planet earth is our home, and soon it will be even easier to travel to other places and our house will become our second home.
