About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See as much as I can

ABOUT ME

My friends call me Penguin. Some don't even know my real name. I collect penguins. I have what is most likely the largest collection of penguins in America.

I Grew up in Texas, moved to Maryland and now live in California. First left the country (needing a passport) in 2000 (Frankfurt). Now I go all over the place. I am a typical Sagg, needing to travel to be happy.

I also collect commercial airplane models. I write, take photos and watch a lot of comedy.

History is one of my favorite subjects and I love to experience different cultures. I'm adventurous and like to try new things. I'm easy going and most people consider me to be pretty funny. I have good taste but not enough money to always endulge it.

When I travel, I like to see as much as possible. A little time here, a little there, then move on. I can do in 3 days what most people would do in a week.

I'm allergic to cigarettes and go out of my way to avoid smoke and smokers. I tend to snore a bit when I sleep. Some friends claim it's annoying, others say it's nothing big. I guess it depends on how well you sleep at night.

I'm caring, generous, fun, open minded, smart and flexible. I don't like to be a bother or put anyone out. I'm almost shy about things and nervous staying at a stranger's home, but my need to travel and see the world and meet new people wins over the fear.

PHILOSOPHY

Do all you can while you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard of couch surfing about 6 years ago. I started telling friends about it. Now they use it. I live in a very small apartment and have no room. But if you want to come visit the area, I have friends who can put you up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None, yet. But there are times I go to parties at my friend, Ra and Sasha's house, and they have guests in. They've always been really cool and it's always fun talking about their home.

Interests

Travel, writing, penguins, airplanes, camping, music, history and hanging out. I like to eat and drink socially.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Mel Brooks! Stevie Nicks is at the top of my list musically. Also love Coldplay, VAST, Bjork, and classical. If it's got rap in it, I turn it off. Can't deal with most country music, but I do like some.

I'm a writer so I don't read much and often write about my travels. I have a few books I'm working on now and one finished. I'm not yet published. Maybe you can help me? Let me know if you would like to read a sample of my work.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one? Then I have to broaden it to world travel. I love taking in the local culture and history. I enjoy the local cuisines and customs. I've been in hot air balloons and large aircraft. I've swam with dolphins and walked on the Great Wall. I've seen the sun rise over the Pacific from 39000 feet and set at 11pm in Alaska. I've walked along the Seine, the Thames and the Mississippi. My life is richer for these experiences and the world is a smaller place.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy practicing Reiki. I can work on you when I visit. Most sessions are about an hour. I also work on pets.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, China, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
