creating community, gardens and AAART!
I grew up in Aotearoa, in Te Waipounamu (the south island) but I now call Wellington home. In my former lives I wandered barefoot around India and Sri Lanka, studied illustration in Melbourne, and lived in a house-bus with a pit bull. Wait, maybe that was in this life! I am currently studying teaching at Victoria university. I also like playing acrobats, making gardens, and be-friending interesting travelers.
I practice nonviolent communication(nvc), it has completely changed the way I relate to myself and others, and given me a deeper sense of purpose of why I am here. I relish the opportunity to meet with others who wish to connect in this way.
I also like to laugh. A lot!
Live, learn, love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I am hosting when space and time permit. I would like to start organising more couchsurfing activities in the Wellington area. In the past I have surfed my way around Australia and Sri Lanka, and met some amazing & generous people. I also host on Warm Showers (its like couchsurfing for cyclists, check it out!)
Lots of friendly people and interesting stories. I have hosted a composer, doctor, sex worker, designer, travel writer, baker, engineers, teachers and more than a few wandering gyspsies... and I have been hosted by an English teacher, an picture framer, an artist, a nanny, and a recent incarnation of the Buddha. I feel so grateful to be part of this network of extraordinary people.
Art & music of almost every type, acrobatics, travel, getting off the beaten track, hiking, cycling, learning Te Reo Maori, organic gardening, yoga and meditation keep me sane. I used to read a lot but not so much any more, I like drinking cups of tea with interesting folk...

Music, Movies, and Books
My fave book this year would have to be 'Daring Greatly' by Brene Brown. I don't read many novels, I enjoy non-fiction in the science/psychology/mindfulness realms. My taste in music and movies is too varied to list, but at the moment I'm really enjoying the tunes of Juliana Hatfield.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ten days of vipassana meditation. do it! its not that scary...
Teach, Learn, Share
I have devoted a lot of time to learning to draw and paint, so I'd love to share these skills! Also yoga, meditation, nonviolent communication, bread baking and other vegetarian cooking, gardening knowledge.
I love learning new dance moves, and how to play uke and guitar...
