About Me

I'm new to this whole couchsurfing thing. But, I like learning about different kinds of people, and I'm a pretty clean, considerate person, so I figured I'd be a good fit for this community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Who doesn't want to make new friends from around the world?

Interests

I'm an old lady at heart -- I love feeding people, taking naps, crafting, giving advice, deal hunting, and crossword-puzzling.

My more age-appropriate interests include hiking, programming, graphic design, photography, drawing, discovering new movies and books, scavenging the internet for dog memes, and watching telenovelas to practice my Spanish.

I am also very fond of pizza, burritos, and bagels and lox.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music // Favorite genres include Disco, 90s R&B, Old school hip hop, Soul, Mississippi Delta Blues, New Wave, Classic Rock.

Movies // I am a huge film buff!I've worked at film festivals around the world. Some favorite directors include Hitchcock, Chaplin, Almodovar, Tati, and Linklater. I love classic American films, high school comedies, educational documentaries, and foreign films--especially those from Spain, France, Germany, Russia, and Japan.

Reading // Used books are my kryptonite. I read a wide range of material, but closest to my heart are short stories and nonfiction that focuses on social and economic justice. Recent favorites are Chasing the Scream, The Devil in the Grove, Runaway (Alice Munro), and Mythology (Edith Hamilton).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good cook.

I am an expert at cheesy puns.

I feel qualified to give advice on graphic and interior design.

I can answer questions you might have on current events--people often ask me to explain what's going on in the world.

I might be able to help fix your computer, and I can definitely suggest some apps to make your life better.
