Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to the couch surfing community, but have been lucky enough to have had some very enriching experiences in the past when invited to stay with local people. .

Interests

Passionate about technology and in how it may be used to empower and enrich people, and provide alternative mechanisms for cultural advancement.
I've always been an intrepid and committed traveller, having made the overland trip to India from Europe in 1974. Afte that a long period of hard work meant that i only travelled as part of work, but in recent years i've been travelling again . .I've now visited more than 40 countries... including 11 in 2010.
That total hit 50 in the summer pf 2011,when I visited Georgia and Armenia, getting there from London via Romania and Turkey.

Music, Movies, and Books

too many . .just finished reading "The Siege" by Ismail Kadare

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

on New Year's Eve 1991, just before the first gulf War, I was in Egypt - after meeting a bunch of American kids and enjoying their party at the American cultural institute in Cairo, we went horse-riding at the pyramids just before dawn, under a glorious full moon. When I left them I sneaked into the Sphinx/ Pyramids site with the help of an obliging guard and enjoyed the site to myself for a full two hours. .
This remains an absolute stand-out experience among so many others . .

Teach, Learn, Share

I have skills in music, video and Web production, which I have used in my professional life and also during a period as a lecturer at the University of the Arts, London.
I am always interested in sharing these skills and seeing how they may be helpful to people I meet on my travels.
