Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on for the same reason everyone else is. To meet interesting and similarly oriented people in different cities around the world. Oh, and to take advantage of free accommodation while I travel while allowing people to do the same when I return home :).

Interests

My main interest is travelling but within that, I love trying everything once. Whether that be food, drink, an activity or something dangerous, I will always give things a go. In my down time, I like to sit with a good book or watch a decent movie/TV show. My interests are very much dependant on my mood in other words.

Music, Movies, and Books

Much like my interests, I love all music. I love it when someone explains why they love certain music because it gives me an understanding of why it might be worth my time. I would list some of my favourites but it's best to just talk to me about music and learn as you go. There's too much for such a little space.

As for books, I prefer non-fiction. Learning and growing my knowledge of some of my favourite subjects. I'm a sports writer by trade so Jonathan Wilson's Inverting the Pyramid is up there. I also love anything by David Simon as his writing style and subject matter is greatly appealing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I imagine most people struggle with this one as choosing a single amazing thing is difficult. I'll keep the suspense and not share my best one but I did nail Kanye West's Goldigger on karaoke while in Japan and the whole room jumped on me afterwards because it was fairly unexpected.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good time above all else. I'm happy to be dragged along with them as they go about their day, learning about whatever city I am in from a local's perspective.
