About Me

I'm a wanderer and wonderer. The older I get, the more I appreciate less urban areas and the eccentricities of towns and smaller urban cities. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the energy, buzz, and personality of a metropolis, though!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love traveling and meeting people. I'm not a huge fan of hotels and I believe that we're already disconnected from each other enough as is.

Interests

Whatever makes me curious.

Oh, and I enjoy museums that tell stories or deal with a reckoning of history. I also enjoy a very specific type of museum. I enjoyed the Tap Water Museum in Beijing, the Anthracite Heritage Museum in Scranton, the Center for Land Use Interpretation in LA, the City Museum of St. Louis, Shitamachi Museum in Tokyo, the Spam Museum in Minnesota, etc. I would like to go to the Anthropocene Museum in Pittsburgh.

Music, Movies, and Books

Where to start? My opinions always change. Favorite author growing up was Patricia Highsmith. Also a fan of Anthony Burgess at the time. Most recent book I read and enjoyed was The Mushroom at the End of the World. My favorite comic book/graphic novel is Y: The Last Man. Best movie I've seen recently in theaters is either The Death of Stalin or Thoroughbreds. Was a huge fan of Eduardo Galeano in college. I have a long list of books I want to leave and sometimes I get sad when I'm in a bookstore because I realize how
many good books I will never have time to read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left Tokyo, a city I loved living in, and let my visa expire to help my family when they needed it the most.

Teach, Learn, Share

I work in film/tv/video production. I can teach editing and shooting techniques. Is that what this section is for?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my travel experience, recommendations, and stories. I've lived in the US, Bolivia, and Japan. I have traveled to China, Thailand, India, and South Korea.
