I'm originally from Wisconsin. I taught in a Yup'ik Eskimo village in Alaska for three years, then moved to Anchorage. My wife and I got married in May of 2023 and we are looking forward to exploring Alaska and beyond together!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a variety of music, but am primarily a classic rock fan. Everything from Springsteen, Pink Floyd, and Pearl Jam to old heavy metal like Iron Maiden and Rush. Yes, Rush is heavy metal.

As far as movies, I'm a big fan of Chris Farley. I'm also a big fan of the HBO series The Wire.

Books: I read a wide variety of historical books. I'm always interested in learning about different times and places.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teaching math in bush Alaska was the most challenging thing I've ever done. I'm very proud of the work my staff and I did there.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can suggest some great hikes and other activities, and even accompany you if you'd like. I know some cool restaurants / bars in the area too. If I'm free I might be able to take you out on some adventures!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. I've got a bunch! If I'm not working I can take you out hiking, skiing, or cook you dinner. I'll do my best to make you feel at home.
