About Me

ABOUT ME

Not quite settled, but settled I=in who I am.

Now a post doc at Brown University's Pop Studies and Training Center.

School aside, I'd claim a pretty strong addiction to those "elitist" activities, like reading and fly fishing.
I've devoured about everything by Dostoevsky and cut my teeth on some diamonds by Joyce.

Some years back (at age 19) I had the opportunity to spend my "savings" on a random plane ticket to Melbourne and was subsequently hooked on "seeing the world."

I can now say that I have the distinction of living in or traveling to some rather odd and exotic locales- from the Falkland Islands to Paraguay to the Butt of Lewis.

These days I keep bees here in Michigan, get up north for hiking, climbing, and fishing, and spend far too much time editing academic articles of dubious readership.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm always keen to host. I can't say there's too much foot traffic coming through the Lansing area so I'm pretty likely to have the space. If you're in town, whether to check out MSU or just on your way through, you're welcome to come by.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ever hit your head on a cat fetus hanging from someone's living room ceiling in the middle of the night? Well, one time while cs'ing in Lawrence, Kansas...

Interests

Chess - soybeans - snow - surf- sand - sun. I really enjoy those late, late nights and the distorted conversation that comes with the wee hours of the morning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Portrait of the Artist/Demons/Fundamental Methods of Mathematical Economics/ Trainspotting / Deerslayer/. Music: Elis Regina, Tupac Shakur, Chico Science, Crystal Castles, Frank Turner, Silversun, + Reggae, Bluegrass, Punk Rock, Indie, soul, and a lot lot more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Midnight sun. Spiritual solidarity in Scotland. Swimming with snakes deep in the Amazon. Oh, and this one time an Albatross tossed up on my arm....

Teach, Learn, Share

I have plenty of special knowledge on the meditative and medical benefits of the honeybee. Ask me anything. Pretty good on JFK history and pretty much all sorts of wacky Amazon statistics. Did you know that the Amazon river could fill up Lake Ontario in three hours? Or that the Amazon Basin includes ten tributaries which are larger than the Mississippi? Well, you do now.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Falkland Islands (Malvinas)

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ireland, Paraguay, United Kingdom, United States
