I'm Czech backpacker, and now I finally have chance to fullfill my Aloha dream - I'm (We are - my and my boyfriend, actually) heading to Hawaii (Oahu, Kauai, Hawai'i) in early October. I've been to HI once (in Kauai) and I totally loved almost all the local people I've met - the attitude, smile and life most of them live in general and that is probably the main reason why I decided to spend a little time of my travels with couchsurfing - nature of this country is sunning, I think culture and people are at least the same important and all these things are what Hawaii makes amazing. :)
We're in Big Island in October 7.-13., most of the time we're gonna have a rental car, our plans are mostly hiking, walking, but to experience some culture, taste a local coffee, see some markets etc. would be a big plus (you, locals, usually know the best tips) :-)

I love all kinds of sports, but hiking is the top. I'd love to meet some people (travellers or hosts) who would like to join me in activities or let me join their lifestyle and who I can spend some time with. :-)
