About Me

I am an open-minded person and like to meet travelers from different places of the world. I love to travel, but because I am working at a school, my travels are restricted to school holidays. So I am happy to meet people from other cultures in Oslo in times when I cannot travel because of my job.

My appartement is located in the city center, just 2 stops from the central station.
And one very important thing to mention is that I have a dog... similar to a Terrier, and he follows me to wherever I go, so you have to like or at least to accept my dog (and some dog`s hair) if you like to stay at my place :-)

And if you like to stay at my place, please write a bit more than that you got a real cheap flight ticket and need a place to stay now. I would like to know a bit more about you and your travel plans... because I am also open to share a bit of my life with you, I expect the same from your side.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I like to meet people from different cultures, and because I like to speak my mother tongue (German) from time to time :-)

Interests

I like to spend my time with my dog, so I am a lot outside (at least if it is sunny), at the Oslofjord or in the "Oslomarka" (the woods around Oslo).

I have lived in Berlin before, and I miss the literary readings and the variety in performances I attended there, so from time to time I am travelling to Berlin for a weekend to ease my cultural interests.

I am also a bit academic - I love to learn new things and to study; I studied at 6 universities already (3 in Germany, 1 in Switzerland and 2 in Norway), and I can discuss a lot of subjects with you, if you are interested. My academic interest covers languages, history, culture, psychology and management. If you have to add anything else, I am curious to learn about other subjects as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read books and can spend a whole day in a bookshop when I am visiting Germany and try to find my literature for the next weeks outside Germany.
There is of course not one favourite book, but authors I like to read are Zeruya Shalev, Milan Kundera, Imre Kertesz, Elfriede Jelinek, and I like to read books about travelling, f. eks. of Andreas Altmann.
Music? Hmm... everything from classic to rock. Music from the 80s. Chill-out-music.
Movies? I like "slow" movies, without many cuts ... drama is the genre I like most (for films and not for my own life ;-) )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dog sledding in northern Norway - even if it was -15 degrees Celsius, it was a great experience!
Paragliding in Geneva - even if I am scared of heights!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some German if you want. And if the weather is fine I might go with you on a boat-trip on the Oslofjord if you are interested and show you how to catch fish for dinner...

If you like to socialize (I hope so), we can cook together or go out and eat or just share a bottle of wine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Points of view, culture, life experience. Can show you nice places in Oslo or take you on a boat trip if the weather is fine.
