Hi!

Im Petr and Im sort of on a road since in December 2022. I spent 6 months in Türkiye, hanging out in Istanbul, travelling, building tiny houses for earthquake survivors as a volunteer, volunteering on a campsite and baglama workshop. Then, after short stop at home, I hitchhiked to Norway to hike in the absolutelly astonishing nature and eat free food from dumpsters. Then i went to France for some seasonal harvest jobs and enjoy a hobo kind of "kerouacish" autumn. After hiking in beautifull autumn Pyrenees I got back home again for like a month to work on my music project but then left again to see Sahara and west Africa. Now im back in Türkiye again.

I can play some musical instruments (guitar, drums, then also a bit of piano, baglama, percussions etc.) and i like to sing, would be very nice to find someone to jam with! Im also very interested in folclore music (Czech/Moravian, but in general all ethnical music aroung the world) and thats something to share. Im part of Rhytms of Resistance (RoR) samba band.

I think im easy going, open minded, positive, moderately punky but responsible person. I like being social as well as i need a space for myself sometimes. Besides music im interested in social and environmental activism, politics and social change, hiking, backpacking, cycling, dumpsterdiving, i like meaningfull discussions, cooking, parties (though i feel like im getting old)... At home im trying to eat mostly vegan/vegetarian, but while travelling im more flexible, especially when i want to taste some local food.

I like cooking and people say im good in that. So if nothing else, i can reward you for hosting me by providing you with some food ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I belive that through meeting new people, learning new cultures, solving different problems and situations one becomes more wise, which is good even for everyday life.

Interests

My main hobby is music - I play drum set, guitar, a little bit piano and I also sing. I used to have an alternative rock band. Now im trying to record and publish some songs of mine.
I worked as a bartender, which was also my hobby. Then I worked in NGO´s as a lawyer for foreigners and asylum seekers.
I love travelling, mostly by hitchhiking. I like both cities and nature, but I can say that I feel better in wilderness.
I like to participate on socialy beneficial projects as a volunteer.
I love animals, so I´m vegetarian, but sometimes I make an exeption during travelling, when I want to taste some famous local speciality.
I like to discuss political and social issues, especially with locals in the country I´m traveling in.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many kinds of music, but especially progresive rock, alternative, modern jazz fusions etc. If somebody is interested in, I know some amazing czech alternative/underground bands which I can advise and I am also interested in the same thing in the places I go. I also like national folklor and ethnical music and love when it fuses with other genres.
