Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
On a semi-competitive quest for renaissance-manhood. And not passing up opportunities to meet people and try new things.
ABOUT ME
Friendly. Goofy. Kinda liberal.
Growing up in Seattle, I gained a keen appreciation for mountains, forests, and the sea, in addition to an internalized politeness and reluctance to voice any sort of discontent. Growing up as a twin in a family of six, I learned a fair deal of patience, but also how to stick up for myself. Growing up in a kitchen, I learned how to cook. I like sitting on the train with my headphones on at three in the morning. I draw, I run, love movies, books, and talking.
Oh, btw. I made this profile a few years ago, and didn't really have a chance to use it until spring 2014, hence the lack of references and such.
PHILOSOPHY
Currently: "Australianism"
The belief in not letting opportunities for meeting people and getting out of the comfort zone pass me by, or at least feeling most thoroughly regretful when I do.
Based on a sweeping generalized impression of the Aussies I've met...any offended Aussies please correct me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far just surfing, but I'm exited to host as soon as I can.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far, purely positive (though pretty limited). I've met a number of fantastic people, and picked up only the best vibes from the community at large.
Interests
I love language. Learning about the little differences in how they work, and how that affects expression and the way people think.
Musics: pretty varied. classical, classic rock, indie rock, funk, underground hip hop, etc.
Film: again, varied. I can get down with a little John McClane, Amelie, Orson Welles, or Miyazaki

Music, Movies, and Books
Whoa nelly. Much, many, varied.
Favorite music right this moment: This Head I Hold, Francis and the Light, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Nina Simone, Alt-J, Chromeo, Cults, Bach, Satie, Otis Redding, Musical Youth, Disclosure, A Tribe Called Quest, Jurrassic 5, Phantogram. The list could certainly go on.
Movies: Tell No One (can't recommend it highly enough, and the music!), After the Wedding, the Diving Bell and the Butterfly, The Third Man, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, O Brother, Where art Thou?,
Books: For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Remains of the Day, The Things They Carried, Stolen from Gypsies, Everything is Illuminated (and the movie!), The First Law trilogy, the Abbhorsen trilogy, the D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths
Teach, Learn, Share
Hmmm knowledge. Skills.
I can wiggle my ears, and raise my right eyebrow; but I dunno how good a teacher I'd make with those under my belt.
I can teach some cooking skills, i guess. And some specific dishes. I can tie a monkeypaw knot. That's pretty cool.
I'll be sure to update this when something comes to me
