ABOUT ME
I have been widowed since 2016. I have three adult children and three young grandchildren. My current partner is a Mexican artist and architect and I live with him about half of the year. We like to find adventure in traveling throughout the country,

PHILOSOPHY
Mash up the Tao Te Ching with the Sermon on the Mount, Eternity is now,

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to participate when I am traveling, to hike, to volunteer, to help out, and to feel that I am a part of wherever it is that I am and not just a tourist.

My experiences in hosting Couchsurfers and in Couchsurfing have all been positive. I've made many friends and shared many great experiences. I keep in touch with a lot of people I met Couchsurfing. It's a great community.

I am interested in meeting people in the places I visit and sharing experiences. Hotels are cold places.

Interests

Humanitarian work and nonviolent activism

Open-minded and willing to take risks

Prefer travel into the unknown

I have worked for many years with the Guatemalan immigrant community and currently manage Menno House, a Mennonite owned brownstone in Manhattan.

Music, Movies, and Books

I worked for years as an arts critic, so I have a wide range of appreciation for art, music, theater, film, literature, languages, festivals, and adventure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slept on beaches in Greece
Hitchhiked through Central and South America in my 20s
Survived the 1970s in New York City
Hiked through the jungle to El Mirador in Guatemala
Trekked out of Huaraz, Peru

Teach, Learn, Share

Translation. Massage. Soup-making.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I almost always like to take hosts out to a great dinner in a good restaurant. I enjoy that. But I can write, teach, cook, and help out. I'm also a good massage therapist. I like working.
