I traveled with my buddy from HCM to Hanoi by bike on my 23rd birthday, even though we planned to go for a 50km trip only. Somehow, we fell in love with roads, dirt and people so we kept moving... as long as we realized, we have been to Hanoi after 15 days with very little budget.
