About Me

PLEASE NOTE: I ignore/decline generic or formulaic requests. I will only reply to requests when they reflect that you have actually read my profile. It's the least you can do if you want to stay at my place.

CURRENT MISSION

when you come to a fork in the road, take it

ABOUT ME

I'm a Brazil-born, U.S.-raised journalist who, after working for almost a decade at financial-news wire services in Sao Paulo, quit my job and took a break to figure out the next chapter in my life. Which for the moment means working at home doing translations.... much better than being in an office all day.
I enjoy traveling, reading, and a night with good friends, good food and good music.

PHILOSOPHY

Life has no meaning except that which we give it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had lots of couchsurfing (lowercase c and s) experience before joining CouchSurfing. I am even reluctant to travel someplace where I don't know a local because, without an insider's perspective to the place I'm visiting, I sometimes find the journey superficial. I hope I can provide a little bit of that same insight to those who visit. And have marvelous new experiences myself in future travels.

Interests

I'm a bookworm. There are few things I enjoy more than a good book. In part I suppose I'm trying to understand the world through the condensed experiences and perspectives of others, in part I have a fascination with language and the written word.
Outside of bookish pursuits, I'm a fan of good food and enjoy cooking - when I have time - , long rambling walks (through familiar territory or exploring new places), discovering new and interesting music, and people watching in general.
I'm pretty picky in my tastes, I suppose, but have a wide-ranging appreciation, liking to sample a bit of everything that life offers.
At heart I'm a city boy, and one who has finally found a home in Sao Paulo, with its chaotic noisy sprawl. But I also like to escape the city and spend days camping or hiking and losing track of time.
