i am a human. i have many human-like qualities. i share these qualities with most other humans. these qualities include but are not limited to: enjoying food, enjoying human contact, wondering, questioning, dreaming.

PHILOSOPHY

wow, personal philosophy: living life to the absolute fullest. the realisation that life is too short and, thus, appreciating and enjoying every moment we have on this beautiful earth no matter how small, insignificant, or unimportant it may seem. seeing beauty in the small things. being judgemental is an absolute waste of time and energy.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i like to host. i like to be hosted. i hope to create networks of friends via couches to make a small difference and make this world a friendlier place. if your country is at war with another country and you know someone personally who lives in that country i can guarantee that you will be more motivated to do something about it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

-surfed chez Freddy in Paris
-surfed chez Geoffroy in Paris. great guy willing to do anything. too bad i got the flu
-surfed chez Shannon in Paris. such a nice girl willing to take care of me while i had the flu. she didnt get sick, yay!
-hosted Sky, the all-powerful switzerman from montana. we had a great 3 days together partying, talking, making dinner together, and laughing at a ridiculous poem he wrote on my typewriter while drunk haha! he even made everyone in my apartement swiss-style tartiflette.
-surfed chez Ulf in the basement of a church (didnt really look like a church) for Carnival in cologne. by far one of the best experiences of my life. so many new friendships, so many lasting memories, soooooo much Kölsch!
-hosted Krista (twice) the mindful and fantastically original oregonian who welcomes new experiences with glee. we even had a 45 minute conversation with old drunk french men at a bar about language, life, and travel. living life to the fullest! welcoming new (often un peu bizarre) experiences opens your mind to possibilities you never knew existed.

...one thing seems to be pretty common in these encounters: when you are super drunk and end up sleeping at someones house that you dont know (a new couchsurfer) and then you wake up in the morning, share a cup of coffee and conversation in that early morning hangover-haze only to find out that they are one of the most interesting people you have ever met. it's really a beautiful thing. i mean, if you use your couchsurfing experience (which is almost always extremely rewarding) to view the world, you will begin to realize that "hey! if all of the strangers from foreign countries i meet on couchsurfing are this wonderful, doesnt that mean that, statistically, the world is comprised mostly of wonderful people?" this thought is essential in living a peaceful life and viewing the billions of people in this world as REAL PEOPLE and not simply numbers of casualties in wars. With this thought in mind, this world that we live in becomes happier, healthier, and more peaceful.

i got lost on a seven hour hike in the french countryside and had absolutely no idea where i was physically. this physical feeling of loss then manifested into emotional, psychological, and spiritual emptiness and it felt really really good. only when we let go of everything can we begin to experience things for what they really are.

i can play cello/guitar/drums, i can crochet (and knit), i can beat-box pretty well (believe it or not)
