About Me
CURRENT MISSION
A quest for spiritual enlightment...we eventually want to get to Puerto Rico to work on a farm
ABOUT ME
We are two friends who have known each other for 10 years. Earlier this summer we both came to the conclusion that it was time for us to search for what the world truly has to offer. We are both looking to better understand the guiding force which binds all of us together and in order to do so we decided to give ourselves to it and see where it takes us. We left on September 13th from Washington D.C. and are currently making our way down the country backpacking in hopes of eventually reaching Puerto Rico.
My name is Phillip, I used to attend the University of Maryland in College Park. I slowly became aware of all the superficial social pressures and decided that perhaps I would be more suited to live a simpler life. I pretty much left behind my whole life in Maryland. I left all of my loved ones in hopes of attaining something more then what was available to me there. It is my hope that on this journey to Puerto Rico I will grow as an individual and perhaps be able to return one day and give something back to all of my friends and family, because that is what they truly deserve.
My name is Patrick Dwyer I have known Phil since we were 9 years old. I recently attended Plymouth state university located in central New Hampshire. I experienced a crises of consciousness about life, the universe and everything. So now I am abandoning all that I have known in search for what I have always and what everyone has always desired. The true purpose.
PHILOSOPHY
Phil: I have an incredible love for life. I believe that on any given day we are all being led somewhere, and I try to connect to everyone that I meet on at least some level because of that. I believe that the fact that we are all placed on this earth means that we are all equal to each other and while we may have certain differences it is our duty to help each other progress on our respective journeys. We have to help each other because all of us everyday and every moment are on a particular path leading ultimately to the same place and by helping each other we can get there in a faster and happier way.
Patrick: The universe is composed with millions of luminescent threads all throbbing with energy and self conscious in ways that people cannot comprehend.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the reasons we decided to go on this adventure is because life in the suburbs is relatively boring. The truly amazing things are still left to be done and seen. It is my hope that Couch Surfing will give me some amazing experiences in the future.
Teach, Learn, Share
So I don't really know if we have much to impart on people but I will write what little I can think of. We can play the guitar. We can speak Spanish, Chinese and have some pretty intense hacky sack moves. We know how to long board. We are eager to learn any local cultural traditions or any sort of technical skills that would benefit us on our travels. We want to experience and share as much as we know of the world in the 20 years we have been in it.
