À propos de moi

***PLEASE READ THIS***
If you want me to host you, it would be greatly appreciated if you took the time to read my profile and to send me an original, not copy/pasted message. I understand that when you're sending a lot of these, it's a pain in the butt to write new messages for every host when you might just get a no, but to me this is a community building website. I've used Couchsurfing as a way to save money too, so I can definitely appreciate that side of it as well, but it means much more than that to me. I want to host people that see it the same way.

Je peu aussi parlé français. Je suis un canadien français, mais parce-que je l’utilize pas, maintenant je suis un peu mauvais.

ABOUT ME

I'm a tall, silly, laid back kind of guy. With a Working Holiday Visa, I was able to live out my life's dream of coming to Japan travel the country, experiencing it for its own sake. I also got the most amazing opportunity to learn the language on the fly. I've hitchhiked almost the entire country and know a thing or two about how to get around this country and survive off very little money. If you need tips, I'm your guy.

After my year was up, I was lucky enough to get asked to teach English and took up residence here in Hirosaki for about the next year. I sink most of my spare time into studying the language, which is something I'm pretty damn passionate about. This is the first time I'm living on my own, and I'm trying to run as far as I can with that opportunity and bettering myself through productivity.

I met many kind people who drove me out of their way to help me out, gave me food when I was hungry, and let me sleep in their homes when I was tired. This is my way of giving back. Hopefully I can help people enjoy their time in Hirosaki and enrich their trip to Japan.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a beautiful temporary thing filled with incredible people. Let's have as many heartfelt goodbyes as possible.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I started on Couchsurfing for the ability to meet up with local people from Japan and get to know places from their point of view. I also did not have much money and I am an avid believer in cheap community living opportunities.

Now that I have my own place in Japan, I'm hoping to pay forward all the overwhelming kindness that I have been shown in this country. I hope I can help some people out with their time here in Hirosaki.

Also I have Smash Bros. 64 and want to get my butt whooped by as many guests as possible, apparently.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I got to hitchhike almost this entire country over the last year or so. Over Golden Week, I hitchhiked over 800 km to Ishikawa prefecture and got to live this weird little dream I had of sleeping next to a lighthouse under a starry sky on a cape overlooking the Japan Sea.

I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest in Africa. There's a picture on my profile of it. Fun fact: It looks like I'm smiling, but if you zoomed in to my face, you'd realize that I'm actually just struggling to breathe.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

日本語話したい!練習しないと。

The biggest thing I can teach or share is how to travel this country cheap. I was pretty much a vagabond for a year here and traveled to about 19 prefectures (24 at this point!) including Hokkaido (lived there for around 5 months), Shikoku, Kyushuu, and Okinawa. If you have any interest in hitchhiking I have a million and a half stories and just as many tips about my experiences doing it here.

I just started playing bass guitar. I suck tremendously, so if you could give me some pointers, that would be pretty dope.
I'd love to taste cooking or something representative of your home country's culture, but don't worry, I don't expect you to cook for me or anything.
