About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See new places, meet new people!

ABOUT ME

I am an artist that loves being outside. During the winter I teach skiing in Beaver Creek Colorado. I am happiest when I am climbing a mountian, getting my hands dirty, meeting new people, and creating inspiring art.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to comment on the things I experience and see through creative images. The world is a strange, beautiful, and sometimes difficult place to live in. My goal as an artist and person is to share my perspective on the world in this way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had one very positive Couchsurfing experience in Denver Colorado. The host left the key to her house for me and my friend Mona to find. Inside there were sleeping pads on the floor, fresh towels and linen. We both fell asleep before the host even got home, that is trust in humanity right there... :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
Fitzcarraldo. All Werner Herzog films. Amadeus. Dumb and Dumber. The Pillow Book, The wife, the thief, the cook and her lover. Anything that's a little artsy, some Hollywood crap is fine but mostly not into it.

Music:
Tom Waits, Opeth, Mozart, Jakob, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, Mono. Glenn Jones.
Ok I like too many varieties of music, but basically Jazz guitar, techno that has some melody, rap, and yes I even like some country music (it's just so over the top and stupid that you must love it).

Let the Great World Spin by Column McCann. The Dharma Bums by Jack Kerouac. Milan Kundera-The Joke-Life is Elsewhere-The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Franz Kafka. John Steinbeck-Tortilla Flat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently moved to Berlin for 2 months, I fell in love with the city. It has a certain honesty and openness to it that I have not experience in other places.

Also skiing in New Zealand was very beautiful. I was at a ski training camp and we loaded the chair lift when it was still dark outside. One morning I remember I got off at the top of the chair lift and in the horizon the sun had just started to rise. This sun rise was different from any other sun rise I have ever seen in my life and I have seen a lot of mountain sun rises in my life. At the bottom of the horizon where the sun started to kiss the mountain peaks the deepest color red I have ever seen started to appear and spread lengthwise. As the sun grew, further up the colors turned slowly into orange, yellow, purple, and finally high in the sky a deep blue. The clouds like a canvas projecting all the colors back at me.
