About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get a local's perspective on the places I visit. In the slightly longer term, to live and work in Japan.

ABOUT ME

I'm 23, a relaxed and fairly outgoing, active person. I like learning about new places by getting to know the local people and the way of life. I love trying local cuisine, particularly if I have the opportunity to make it myself.
I've just finished university and will be living and working in London from next January. Anyone who wants to drop by is more than welcome to, provided I'm in the country.

PHILOSOPHY

Little acts of kindness keep the world in some semblance of order.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Any way I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. Yet... Heard about this from a friend I met at language school, and have subsequently found out that a few of my friends use it too. They love it.

Interests

I'll try more or less anything... But my main interests are sport, cooking, reading, Japanese language and history, and travel. I played rugby and cricket at university and will probably continue afterwards, and I'll watch most sports happily. I love cooking and eating, and recently spent part of my time at language school doing a japanese cooking course. It was awesome. I also like cities with a good nightlife. The only things I'm not a big fan of are high places and nattou. And I've climbed Mont Blanc, so really just nattou.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite authors are Hemingway, Conrad, Le Carre, Pratchett (when I was younger at least). Musicians and bands: Led Zeppelin, Dvorak, Nas, B.B. King, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Eminem... a selection from most genres. Just not really poppy pop music. Film: Coen brother's films, anything starring Takeshi Kitano, and a load of other stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played cricket at Lord's, the home of cricket. Which won't mean much to a lot of people... But it did to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught English and Cricket, and my masters project was in atmospheric chemistry, so I suppose I could tell you a little (or quite a lot...) about global warming. But I'm sure you'd rather have a drink and talk about something less depressing/more interesting. I always want to learn about food. And Japanese. And anything that is good to do in your area. And your life and lifestyle.
