About Me

I just finished my first year of medical school, after having taught middle and high school students for two years following graduation from college. I am interested in too many things, and don't ever seem to have time to pursue all of my interests. I have made it a point to take opportunities to travel and experience new places in the last few years. I enjoy thoughtful conversations and hearing people's stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about the site as I was considering lodging options for a trip to England. I stayed with a couple hosts on the trip and had a fantastic experience. It was great to spend time with locals with whom I would not have otherwise come into contact. I hope to have more experiences like this on my travels, and possibly the flip side if people want to stay with me in Kansas City.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a wide variety of music but my favorites are folk Christian artists like Michael Card, Sarah Groves, and Josh Garrels. Some more mainstream artists I enjoy are NeedtoBreathe, Switchfoot and Jars of Clay. I also enjoy some good classic rock, especially Simon and Garfunkel.
I like fantasy/adventure/action movies, but it better have some substance. Some of my favorites are Lord of the Rings, Inception, and Star Wars. I also like thoughtful movies such as The Tree of Life and Twelve Angry Men and then on the lighter side, The Princess Bride is always and enjoyable watch
Reading has not been a part of my life as much as I would like, but the Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia are favorite series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went skiing for the first time in December 2016. That was a pretty awesome experience going from not being able to stay on the skis to trying my best to stay up on the mid-level slopes in just a day of skiing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I hope I can share good conversation, curiosity, and appreciation. Maybe my place as a young and inexperienced traveler seeking adventure can be refreshing.
