About Me

Hey there! I’m Phillip, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, but I grew up in central Texas, and now I’m based in Antigua, Guatemala. I like good web design, crypto, AI, and fitness 💪. I love exploring cultures through language, food, and real conversations. Always eager to learn something new and meet interesting people along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve had some unforgettable experiences thanks to this community, including surfing in the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. I try to host when I can, surf while I travel, or just meet up for a coffee and good conversation. Couchsurfing has introduced me to some of the most open-minded and generous people I’ve ever met.

Music, Movies, and Books

Timothy Ferriss is a huge inspiration, The 4-Hour Workweek, The 4-Hour Body, and The 4-Hour Chef are like bibles to me.

Favorite Movie: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Favorite Book: Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
Favorite Anime: Sword Art Online

I’m into music of all kinds. I’m not picky, as long as it moves me. Yet, I usually have some type of chill lofi or some subliminal track running.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At SXSW 2011 in Austin, I stumbled into a free show and ended up seeing Michael Cera perform live on stage with his band. I even managed to grab a quick selfie with him afterward, my first celeb moment!

Another standout memory was during my deployment to Afghanistan. I got a 2-week vacation and spent it in Seoul, South Korea. It was my first time abroad and completely eye-opening.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning from others and sharing whatever I can, whether it’s cultural stories, language tips, or a home-cooked meal. I’m happy to help with English, share insights from my American/Hispanic background, and offer some solid cooking lessons. Let’s swap stories and make some memories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Again I can share with you my cooking knowledge, learning a language advice, and all things tech / ai related!
