About Me

ABOUT ME

I attend the University of Maryland in College Park, where I'm a sophomore journalism major. I grew up in Atlanta, GA., though. I've traveled outside the country a few times, most recently to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. I love sports, reading and a good meal. Some people might call me a social butterfly, but I just like to think I'm friendly.

Interests

As a Journalism major, I obviously enjoy reading and writing. I worked for my high school paper, and now I write for my college paper. Obviously, I have other interests too. I'm currently studying Spanish (I even studied abroad in Costa Rica for six weeks before my senior year of high school), and I'm always interested in having a conversation as long as the other person can put up with my grammatical mistakes and thick accent. I probably spend too much of my time watching and playing sports. Whenever I see a game on TV or see people playing sports outside, I usually stop to watch or play.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Those six weeks in Costa Rica opened my eyes and made me appreciate how caring and helpful complete strangers can be. My host family was very helpful, but people I met in the street would be quick to lend me a hand. But what really left me awestruck was the cultural differences. Life moved so much slower in Costa Rica than it did in the US.

Growing up in the south but living in the north for the last two years has also been interesting. I've noticed differences in how people interact and other small details. In the end, I'm pretty lucky to have been able to travel and live in so many different regions.
