Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel to with the aim of learning more about myself through my interaction with other culture, philosophy and people.
ABOUT ME
I started life as an academic geek, trying (although not really working) hard at school the insistance of my parents to do well to get a good job to earn lots of money to be happy. Did well, did PhD for the love of chemistry, got good job, house, money and realised this doesn't bring happiness by itself. So quit the job and hit the road to see what else life has to offer. I'm glad to say there's more than I possibly realised and am glad to keep going!
PHILOSOPHY
Happiness comes from within, not from the pursuit of external things.
The key to happiness in life is to do good by others and the good that happens to you will look after itself.
There's no such person as a stranger, just a friend I haven't met yet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just joined so I'm new to this. I'm excited to be involved though and I look forward to making a new friend's day more interesting when I come visit. When I return and my tenants leave, there'll be a couch available for any travellers to Manchester.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There really are too many to choose. My recent trip has seen me write-off a 4x4 in Oman, hate with a passion then fall in love with India, have an IV drip in a backstreet hospital with a cow sat outside the open window, teach english to monks, grow taller doing yoga, feel a scar on my hand consciously for the first time, learn that painful way that pain is impermament, meditate in silence for 10 days, entertain street kids who though fizzy drink was amazing, explore ruined palaces with no health and safety restrictions, party to Bollywood dance hits, meet living deities and learn to love dancing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a good understanding of various spiritual philosophies and their means to live a happy and rewarding life. I love to learn more and am happy to share what I know.
I have a strong background in science, and specific knownledge of nanotechnology, and would be happy to discuss, explain or teach those who are interested.
I am skilled in swedish and thai massage.
